Georgia DSTAR Reflector Moving to REF003A

DSTAR CHANGES ARE COMING IN GEORGIA!

To ensure sufficient capacity for hotspot and repeater connections to a Georgia Statewide DSTAR Reflector, we are planning to move from REF030B to REF003A. Since REF030C is the busiest reflector in the world, it can create some capacity limitations for Georgia stations connecting to REF030B, especially for hotspots.

Reflector 003 (REF003) has been created for dedicated Georgia use on all reflector modules (A, B, C, D, E). Beginning Thursday, September 5th after 12:00 noon, repeaters and hotspots should connect to REF003A for the Georgia Statewide DSTAR Reflector. Do not initiate any changes before 12Noon on Thursday. This change window was created to minimize any disruption to any scheduled nets. All nets and regular activities should begin using REF003A beginning Monday, September 8.

Repeater administrators should change the default link for their repeater to REF003A during the change window above and complete by the end of day on Sunday, September 8. Georgia DSTAR will assist with the change for any repeaters and can make the changes directoly for any repeaters that we have remote access. If repeater administrators have any questions or need assistance, please contact WB4QDX at jdavis@gtworks.com or WA4YIH at ewoodrick@ed-com.com.

The creation of REF003 will enhance DSTAR capabilities for Georgia. While REF003A will be the primary reflector available for statewide use, the other modules of REF003 will be available for special events, emergency use, exercises and other activities greatly expanding our capabilities in Georgia. REF030 will remain unchanged as the most popular reflector in the world and continue to be funded, maintained and supported by Georgia DSTAR in addition to REF003. Any donations for ongoing support can be made at www.DstarInfo.com.
